I thought I should upload all the cool stuff I`ve done in my life that have actually been cought on video.

Here`s one from february 2010 when I had a speech all in Japanese, I managed to come 2nd.

This is my speech for the Annual Kai Nihongo School Speech Contest (2010). I finished in 2nd place and had a great time making and executing the speech.

I couldn’t have done this without the support of my fantastic classmates, thanks guys! I was only a level 2 student at that time and it`s the first time in 10 years that somebody below level 3 has actually placed in the top 3.

I guess that means something ;)

Heres a rough translation of the script:

いつもじんせい中でいろいろな人に会います。
You meet different sorts of people all the time.

毎日人にあいます。
Every day you meet people.

しごとや学校うちなどで人にあいます。
At work, in school or on the street … you meet people.

そして何回も会うと、だんだんふつうになって、しんせんではなくなります。
After meeting the same people a lot of times, the experience quickly loses it’s freshness.

でも、それはよくないと思います。
But, I don’t think this is so good.

駅でも、学校でも、道でも、しっている人も、しらない人も。。。
In the subway, in school on the street … people you know, people you don’t know …

みんあとくべつです。
Everybody is special.

きのうも、今日も、いつもたいせつな時です。
Today, yesterday, the present are important moments!

インド人は会った時　”ナマステ”　と言います。
In India, when meeting, they say “namaste”

いみは私とあなたのたましいはおなじで、HOLYだとわかりあうことです。
It means that I recognize that you and I come from the same HOLY source.

心をひらくときっとすばらしいことがおきます。
Open your heart so that magnificent things will spring into existence.

私はいろいろなとこれへ行きました。
I’ve gone to many places.

そしてわかりました、旅行してると、心が開いてきます。
And in the end I understood, when you travel, your heart opens.

ことばはむずかしい、レストランでバスで、やりかたはわかりません。
You don’t understand the language, in the restaurant or in the buss, you don’t know how to act.

その時、頭のなかで何もかんがえられません。
In that moment, your head becomes empty.

でも、心を開くとおもしろいことがおきます。
But, open your heart and interesting things will happen.

ある日、私はイギリスにいました。夜散歩していると、アラ－ムがきこえました。
One day, I was in England. And in the evening I went out for a walk and suddenly I heard an alarm.

わたしはアラ－ムをおいかけました。
I followed the alarm (where the sound came from)

そしてアラームがきこえなくなりました。
And suddenly it stopped.

近くに大きいな教会がありました。
Near me there was a big church.

暗いから見にくかったです。
It was dark and difficult to see.

でも、教会のよこに人がいました。
But beside the church there was a person.

だれもいないとおもったから私はびっくりしました。
I thought nobody was around so I was surprised.

それは小さいおじさんでした。
It was an old man.

私はおじいさんにたばこを一本あげました。
I offered the old man a cigarett.

おじさんはありがとうも言わないし、私も何も言いません。
The old man didn’t say thank you and so I said nothing either.

となりでいっしょに、しずかにたばこをすいました。
Next to eachother, in silence, we smoked our cigarettes.

そして、おじさんはたばこをすてる前に、私に言いました。
And then, before throwing away his cigarette the small old man said to me.
“It’s always nice to be nice!”.

ふつうのことばですが、いみはふかいです。
These are every day words but the meaning is very deep.

私はちょっとびっくりしました。
I was surprised.

そして、おじいさんとわかれてから、あるきながらかんがえました。
After I had parted with the old man, I was thinking while walking.

“ほんとうにそうだ！わかった！”と思いました。
“That’s it! I Got it” was what I thought.

あげることだけすると、しあわせになります。なにももらわなくてもいいのです。
You only need to give to become happy. You don’t need to receive anything.

みなさん！人と会う時に心を開くと、いろいろな、とても大切なことがわかりますよ。
Everybody! The moment when you meet other people, open your hearts and you will come to understand truly important things!

心をひらくと。。。
When you open your heart…

やさしくなるよ、きれいになるよ、おもしろくなるよ。
You become nicer, you become more beautiful and things get more interesting.

自分がよくなるよ！
You become awesome!
